He who knows others is wise;
he who knows himself is enlightened.
~ Lao Tzu

Sixth century Chinese scholar and philosopher Lao Tzu established Taoism, a philosophy that encourages living by the principles of balance and non-violence, and is rooted in compassion, moderation and humility. Taoism traditionally plays a key role in creating a peaceful and compassionate life for followers living in both the Far East and around the world. Burlington County Library System upholds this tradition and advocates respect, inclusion, accessibility and equity of all its services and resources for all members of its community, no matter their race, religion, ethnic or gender identity.

In light of recent tragic events that have impacted the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, we want to honor Asian American heritage and highlight the following resources so that you can learn about its history, culture, struggles and societal contributions.
