It’s almost time for students – and their teachers – to head back to school! For educators that means planning lessons, purchasing supplies, and preparing for the year ahead. Did you know BCLS can help? The library system has a variety of resources tailored just for teachers.
Educators who work in communities that pay the Burlington County dedicated library tax are eligible to apply for a BCLS Educator Card. Homeschool families are also eligible to apply for educator cards if they live in communities that pay the dedicated library tax.
Classroom Assistants and Classroom Kits offer excellent ways to supplement curriculum material in the classroom. With Classroom Assistants, educators can request a customized package that includes books, DVDs, and electronic resources created exclusively for their units or lessons. Classroom Kits are designed to make research easy for students; these pre-made kits contain themed materials or multiple copies of books. This fall, BCLS will offer a selection of new STEM Classroom Kits available for classroom use.
As always, BCLS is happy to provide outreach support at school events. Ask your local branch about back-to-school nights, classroom visits, and field trips to the library.
Interested educators should subscribe to the BCLS Classroom Newsletter. It’s the best way to keep up to date on all the current offerings and support BCLS provides to teachers.
We hope all educators, students, and families have a great back-to-school time!
