September 17 marks the third annual Batman Day, which began in 2014 as a celebration of the Dark Knight’s 75th anniversary and continues as a celebration of one of the world’s most popular superheroes.
Batman, also known as billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, was first introduced in Detective Comics in 1939 and has been protecting the population of Gotham City from evildoers ever since. Over the years, the Caped Crusader has starred in comics, movie shorts, feature films, television shows, animated series, and videogames, and has been portrayed by numerous actors including, Adam West, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Will Arnett (the voice of Lego Batman) and Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman in Batman: The Animated Series). In addition, Batman comics have been created by some of the finest writers in the business, including his co-creators Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Dennis O’Neil, Frank Miller, Jeph Loeb, Alan Moore, and Grant Morrison.
