As educators continue to look for resources that will make distance learning easier, some companies are making their content accessible to educators for free. Two such companies are Loom and TeachersPayTeachers.
Loom is a fantastic program that allows individuals to record their computer screen in real time, with or without the utilization of their webcam. In response to Covid-19, Loom has made their Pro version free for any verified teachers and students at K-12 schools, universities or educational institutions who are using Loom for classroom work. Loom can be utilized as a desktop application or a Google Chrome extension. Simply create an account with your school email (it must be a school email to qualify for the free Pro edition) and download the application or extension. Loom allows you to record using your screen, webcam, or both – perfect for every teacher who would like to teach in “real time” for their students by doing demonstrations, showing presentations, or giving examples of work. Videos can be shared directly from Loom or downloaded and uploaded to another page. Videos can also be archived for access later. For more information about Loom’s free Pro access for teachers, visit the Loom blog.
TeachersPayTeachers is offering TpT School Access free to schools affected by Covid-19. TeachersPayTeachers is an online service where teachers, curriculum directors, and other educators upload their resources to be utilized in the classroom by other educators. TpT School Access is a subscription for U.S. K-12 schools that gives teachers immediate access to a comprehensive library of more than 3 million TpT resources. With TpT School Access, your school will be able to find and use resources to meet all instructional challenges (from engaging resources for remote learning to self-guided packets) for every grade, subject, and specialty. The free subscription includes access to a number of resource licenses based on school size, a school activity dashboard, and logins for every administrator and teacher in the school through June 30, 2020. To request your school’s free subscription, a school administrator must fill out the form on the website and will then receive an email to select a time for a TpT School Access onboarding session.
