Planning for retirement can feel overwhelming. To help, BCLS is offering “Financial Understanding,” a series of programs about common retirement topics. Presented by Bill Greenfield of Wealth Bridge Advisory, the workshops will touch on a number of subjects, including social security, Medicare, IRAs and reverse mortgages.

You must register for each program individually. A link to join the program will be emailed to you prior to the event. In order to attend, you need to have Zoom downloaded, but you do not need to have an account.

Understanding Medicare
Nov. 17, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
This workshop covers topics such as when to sign up for Medicare, what it does and doesn’t do, and what options you have. It also covers planning for health care expenses during retirement.

Understanding How to Use IRAs during Retirement
Dec. 1, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
This session outlines each type of IRA (traditional, rollover and Roth) and reviews how and when to utilize each one. Topics include the proper way to list beneficiaries, planning for required minimum distributions and making your money last for a lifetime.

Understanding Housing Wealth and Reverse Mortgages
Dec. 8, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Explore the ways a modern reverse mortgage can dramatically de-stress your retirement planning. It can be used to eliminate mortgage debt, purchase a new home, help with health care expenses and much more.
