If you've traveled anywhere the past few days, you probably noticed groups of people walking around town while looking at their phones. Depending on where you live, this might not be that strange, but for many rural parts of Burlington County, this is a little odd and it is all thanks to Pokémon GO! This newly released app is turning strangers into fast friends, as well as bridging an age gap like nothing else now that kids, teens, and adults search for pokémon everywhere they go.

The Pokémon GO app takes Nintendo's biggest franchise and puts in on your smartphone. Now, a world that only existed in video games, television, and books is all around you. With the help of GPS technology, you can turn your neighborhood into a giant scavenger hunt. The best part is it gets everyone moving and exploring! Many libraries in the Burlington County Library System are either Gyms or Pokéstops, so there’s another great reason to visit multiple locations! These real-world locations are spots where pokémon trainers can meet, level up and collect items like pokéballs and potions.

Since pokémon have been around for decades, the library has a great collection of graphic novels, picture books, video games, and DVDs available for checkout with your library card.
