The Pemberton Library is the proud recipient of the Summer Learning Resources Grant from the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The library will be hosting two programs for teens this summer to provide summer learning opportunities through SAT Practice Test Prep and a Teen Summer Reading Book Club, both made possible through the grant. The purpose of the grant is to provide resources to teens to combat the summer slide during the summer break from school.
SAT Practice Test Prep held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 6 to July 25 from 6 to 8pm requires registration for all sessions and includes a copy of an SAT practice workbook for each student, as well as access to various online resources. This program is designed to assist students taking the new SAT within the next 2 years.
With your BCLS library card, students can access the Learning Express database to prepare for a variety of tests, including the SAT, anytime. This database features tutorials for overall test prep and breaks down the math, reading, writing and language, and an essay portions of the SAT. A better understanding of the test and questions will help students achieve the best score.
Teen Summer Reading Book Club held on Mondays from July 10 to August 21 at 5pm will include refreshments and readings of this year’s required book for summer reading at Pemberton Township High School. This program is not limited to students entering PTHS. Any high school student can join us to share in reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Participants will receive a copy of the book to follow along with a reading of the book and engage in a book discussion after each session.
Space is limited for these events, so make sure to register today to reserve your spot!
