National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the achievements of Hispanics in the United States. Observed between September 15 and October 15 each year, it coincides with the independence days of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile.

During the month, Latinos celebrate Hispanic heritage with festivities that highlight the music and food that extol the countries’ history and rich culture. This is a great opportunity to educate students about Hispanic and Latin American heritage, and to celebrate their contributions to the American culture! From their music to the conquest of Mexico, there are endless activities for students to explore in Hispanic and Latin American culture.
