Find out why “Libraries Rock” by participating in the 2018 BCLS Summer Reading Program kicking off June 18 at all library branches! Every year, children and teens have fun tracking their reading progress, attending great programs and earning cool prizes, so don’t miss out. Our 2018 program runs until August 11 and we’re ready to welcome back last year’s readers while encouraging those who haven’t previously participated to jump right in!
This year’s theme is Libraries Rock and participants are encouraged to read lots of great books at home, the beach or wherever they find themselves relaxing during their time away from the classroom.
This also marks the third year participants will be able to use Beanstack, the library system’s online system for tracking what you read. Use Beanstack to log reading progress, explore Book Lists and access Activity Tracks, interactive, step-by-step guides customized for each age group and designed to encourage learning, curiosity and fun. And don’t forget to check out the free library programs about science, nature and more that will be offered at all eight library branches to help keep young minds sharp all summer long.
For reaching each reading milestone, participants age 12 and under will earn badges that may be redeemed for prizes, and they can earn extra rewards by completing online Activity Tracks. Teens ages 13 to 18 can also join in the fun by completing Activity Tracks or Activity Cards to earn prizes that will vary by branch and may include raffle entries, books, coupons and more.
Register today or stop by any BCLS branch to learn more.
Enjoy your summer, and happy reading!
