All Burlington County residents are eligible for library membership. Those residing in Moorestown, Willingboro and Mount Laurel, who do not pay the dedicated county tax, are eligible for paid membership.
Eligible residents may visit any library location to register for a card or apply online. Proof of residency must be provided at the time of application. For online applicants, proof of residency must be provided within 60 days of receiving a card. Examples of proof of residency include a drivers license, school ID (elementary, middle or high school), or utility/phone bill.
Others may join the library using 3 options:
- A Full Access Card may be purchased for an annual $50 family fee for full library privileges.
- Librarians/educational media specialists who are employed in schools (public and private) in communities that pay the Burlington County dedicated library tax are eligible for an ILL/school librarian card. Cardholders are entitled to select up to 200 items for use in the library/media center and no overdue fines will be charged for these materials. As these items are loaned to the school, not to the individual librarian/media specialist, the school district is responsible for lost or damaged materials. The cards will be renewed annually upon proof of continued employment.
- Teachers who teach in communities that pay the Burlington County dedicated library tax, and who wish to borrow library materials, may apply for an Educator Card. Applications are accepted on the BCLS website. Cards will be processed and mailed to the teacher’s school. The cards will be activated/renewed upon proof of continued employment in person at any library location. Cards will be valid from September 1 – June 30th. This is a full service card and teachers are responsible for any materials charged to their card and are required to adhere to the library’s policies and guidelines as these items are loaned to the individual not the school district. Large collections (over 35 items) or extended loan periods on library
Active duty military personnel stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and their families are also eligible for library membership.
