Not only does volunteering benefit the organization being helped, but it benefits the volunteer too! There are lots of reasons to volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to build a resume, especially for teens who have yet to gain work experience. A person can learn valuable career skills as well as social skills through building interpersonal connections. Donating time can also boost self-esteem, self-confidence and in turn aid in combating depression.

The Volunteer Center of Burlington County is a great resource for local volunteering opportunities for all ages. The site includes virtual options and projects-at-a-distance. Looking to volunteer at your local library?  Teens and adults can apply on our website. Patrons can also support their local branch by joining their location’s Friends organization!
