Orchid was founded in 1989 to assist in maintaining a Rotary donated home for orphaned, abandoned and severe poverty stricken children in the Dominican Republic. The Armando Rosenberg Home and School continues, under excellent administration by Sister's of a poverty Order from Spain. Student population is now over 1,400 poverty students and provides schooling from pre-kindergarten through vocational training schools. The complex also has a medical clinic for the poor of the area and a church with over 2300 members. Forty foot containers (full of food, clothing and needed essentials) continue to be shipped there each fall assisted by various Rotary Clubs in Central and southern New Jersey. Volunteers continue to travel there each year to do volunteer work.
All contributions to Orchid Foundation Inc. are tax deductible. All members of Orchid are volunteers and there is no payroll.
General membership dues begin at $60 annually with gold, silver and platinum levels. Financial support for container costs is appreciated.
