Are you looking for some help finding your next book? Is your child in a reading rut? We recently launched a new service called Book Match. Complete this quick survey and one of our librarians will create a personal reading list just for you. When you complete the survey, let us know about favorite Netflix shows, books, authors and genres. Tell us what you don’t like too! Beyond genre, we like to look deeper into the shows and books that you love to discover what really appeals to you. Is it a strong sense of place or quirky characters with witty dialogue? Do you love intricate plots with different narrators? Maybe your child loves a series and you’re looking for a similar author.
We work hard to create a book list that is personalized just for you. Since October, we have received quite a few Book Match requests. We have rediscovered that our patrons have diverse reading habits! We have military fiction fans and readers that love world-building high fantasy. Do you prefer paranormal romance, steampunk science fiction or perhaps realistic fiction with a hint of magic? We’ve noticed that some of your favorite genres lately are psychological thrillers, cozy mysteries and historical fiction. Feel good books with humor are also one of our most requested topics right now.
And for all of those parents looking for off-screen activities for their children, here is a reminder. This service isn’t just for adults. Several of our Book Match librarians are experts in children’s literature and know all about Newbery titles, other award winners, as well what to recommend to Dog Man, Big Nate or Dork Diaries fans. We can help your child broaden their reading preferences to discover new series like The Mysterious Benedict Society or Gregor the Overlander and authors like Katherine Applegate, Kate DiCamillo and Jerry Craft.
Explore these recommendations and consider giving Book Match a try.
