Have you checked out one of our popular Museum Passes?
To explore museum collections that are further away, check out some of these virtual tours. Through virtual tours, you can view objects, and sometimes even entire rooms, in surprisingly clear detail. You can even zoom in for extreme close-ups! You'll feel like you're really there.
The Louvre - Take the Online Tour to navigate around three selected wings. Clicking directly on an object pulls up a zoomed-in version of the object as well as an object description. Check out Egyptian Antiquities, Remains of the Louvre's Moat, and the recently restored Galerie d'Apollon.
The British Museum - Choose from twelve geographic regions and explore objects that were relevant to the region's history. Each object is accompanied by a background description. From everyday objects to detailed drawings, you'll be surprised how much you can learn about ancient cultures based on objects alone.
The Smithsonian Institution - National Museum of Natural History - Take a Panoramic Virtual Tour room by room on your desktop or mobile device. Entire rooms are displayed as you would see them in the actual museum. Using arrows, you can move about the room and zoom in to read the descriptions. Exhibits include Mammal Hall, Dinosaurs, and Egyptian Mummies.
The International Spy Museum - Selected objects can be clicked for a close-up view and description. Check out the Secret History of History, Behind Enemy Lines, and War of the Spies.
The Vatican Museum - Sistine Chapel - A 360 degree view of one of the most famous works of art.
